Nancy has been singing as long as she can remember. She sang in choirs, studied piano, and learned guitar well enough to accompany the choir when asked. Music was on hold later as she went to ULL, married, and helped raise a family. She later worked in broadcast journalism, advertising, marketing, and tourism. She holds a BA in Communication Studies from LSU, and retired from the State Office of Tourism in 2018. Nancy’s lyrics are timely and topical; hard to categorize yet easy to understand.

I also perform regularly solo, with him as a duo, & with a new band formed to play my originals. I play piano, guitar, bass & mandolin.

I have been singing, writing and performing for over 20 years. It is something that has never come easy but a challenge that I have been addicted to since the day I picked up a guitar. I'm not sure if I chose music or if music chose me but I have never looked back. The writing process is my favorite by a landslide. I love to create and when I am able to convey the message of a song properly to whomever hears it, then that cycle is complete. The song has done what I had set out for it do.

The recovery from losing a loved one is similar to a hurricane - it's worse than its perception, before and after. Music went away in 2017 but started to come back last year... and it continues. The band has still been on hold as I continue to get my life back together with all kinds of plans, which, as John Lennon alluded to, have been interrupted by life. Time sits on me like a rock sometimes.
For Kentucky native, Tony Cobb, it’s all about the song. His songs are straight from the heart and soul. Tony is a storyteller and his songs tell stories of a life well lived. His songs are relatable, much like stories shared on a front porch back home. It’s often been quoted that country music is simply “three chords and the truth…” and Tony's writing is the perfect example. He's a Southern Hemingway who says A WHOLE LOT, with few words. Tony’s songs will invite you to “Take A Ride.”

About the Festival
The Ozone Songwriter Festival is the brainchild of a group of friends who wanted to give performance access to the many singer-songwriters who pour their hearts out in writing music, but often find themselves with limited performance venues aside from cafes or open mic nights.
It is also backed by a solid purpose, as the festival is coordinated the nonprofit Ozone Music Education Foundation. All proceeds will be used to educate young people on songwriting and self-expression through music, and help them learn ways to make in-roads to possible future careers in the music business.
The foundation is headed by board of directors president and native of Slidell, Louisiana, Greg Barnhill. Now living and working in Nashville, Barnhill still loves his native region and returns often to perform in southeast Louisiana, mentor local schoolchildren, and lead decision-making for the foundation and its festival.
Greg is an Emmy-winning, multiple Grammy-nominated songwriter whose music has been recorded by top performers including Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Leona Lewis, and many more. Greg’s best-known song -- and there’s almost no way you’re not familiar with it -- is the wildly successful “Walkaway Joe,” recorded by Tricia Yearwood and Don Henley.
In the past year, Greg has conducted workshops with local music students from Fontainbleau High School and Mandeville High School. He's provided mentorship, inspiration, and songwriting and music business tips. It's just the beginning of what the Ozone Music Foundation hopes to provide children. The next step is to expand that outreach with more programs, and begin doing things such as providing musical instruments to underprivileged kids. But the only way we can fund this is if you show your support by coming out to the fest on October 19 and 20, where we're sure you'll enjoy yourself!
In October, Greg will bring fellow singer-songwriters down from Nashville with him, and they’ll perform along with dozens of local favorites you probably recognize from the local and regional live music circuit.
