Robert Eustis

Robert Eustis at the Red Dragon

About Robert...

Robert Eustis grew up on New Orleans R and B. There were 3 albums (vinyl LPs) in those days. We Sing the Blues, New Orleans Home of the Blues Volumes 1 and Volume 2. All 3 were compilations of tunes sung by Ernie K-Doe, Irma Thomas, Benny Spellman, and others. All or nearly all the tunes were written and produced by Allen Toussaint. Toussaint, using the moniker, Naomi Neville. Many of these artists played at high school and college dances as well as at F and M Patio, across Tchoupitoulas St from what is now the F and M Patio Bar.

The British Invasion hit, and Eustis was hooked as it was clear that that the Beatles and in particular New Orleans Music influenced the Rolling Stones.

College in Colorado exposed Eustis to Texas singer songwriters Jerry Jeff Walker and Steven Fromholz. Although it would be years before I would pick up a guitar, Eustis kept coming back to the sound of one vocal and a steel string acoustic guitar.

During the mid-1990s, Eustis began studying guitar with John Rankin. In 2000, I attended a workshop led by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jorma Kaukonen. The switch was flipped. He was all in. Eustis founded the DeSoto Street Band. The Band played at Tipitina’s, the Bayou Boogaloo and French Quarter Fest. The band made an eponymous release, “DeSoto Street Band” in 2008.

In 2011 Eustis recorded a CD, Flying High, produced by the late Spencer Bohren. The record also featured Andre Bohren on piano and drums, Johnny Sansone on harp and accordion, Harry Hardin on violin and Spencer Bohren on acoustic lap guitar and square neck dobro. 12 years later Eustis and Steve Wulff splintered off to form the Jasper Brothers. John

Odell joined soon after.

The Jaspers held down a residency at Pearl Wine Co. on Orleans Ave for 5 years. In 2021 Eustis recorded another album, “The Tipping Point”. The record, 11 originals and one cover, was produced by Andre Bohren, so of the late Spencer Bohren. Most of the songs are about everyday life...” Sitting on the Porch”, “When the Bus Goes By.

The album release party was held and Chickie Wah Wah on May 12. Backing up Eustis was Andre Bohren on drums John Fohl on guitar, David Pomerleau on bass, and a half dozen others.

His wry optimism and perspective are reflected in the new batch of songs. The title track, “The Tipping Point”, starts out as a dark commentary on the times, winding up reminding the listener that the human spirit always wins.

Weber Candilora

About Weber...

Weber, who for the last decade has played under the moniker Engine Joe, is a songwriter from New Orleans. His writing and performing style has been described by some as heart felt punk-folk. Others have categorized his antics as booze-fueled self indulgence that, given the circumstances, may lead to a display that’s unreservedly bizarre. Whether his music touches your heart or turns your stomach, he is a spectacle well worth experiencing live.

Set 2: 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Claire Kellar

Claire Kellar

About Claire...

Claire Kellar is from Southeast Louisiana. She attended Young Americans College of the Performing Arts in Southern California where she was selected to be a featured performer on a National Tour. Claire was chosen to participate in Judy Stakee’s songwriter retreat in Nashville, TN and was recently invited to play at the Listening Room in Nashville. She has also been selected to play at festivals like: the Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival, Third Street Songwriter Festival, and Bogalusa Rebirth. Pauly D

Pauly D

About Pauly D...

Paul “Pauly” Domingue is a born and raised native of Lafayette, La. His journey as a songwriter began at the age of nineteen when he exposed to the guitar by his best friend’s father. His late father brought him up on classic rock and folk music. A lot of Pauly’s inspiration is drawn from that era of music. Pauly was one of the founding members and guitarist for the band Roaming Signals out of Lafayette. After leaving the band in 2014, Pauly has since been steadily writing and creating new and exciting music. Pauly is beginning his journey as an up-and-coming singer-songwriter and plans to release his debut album in 2022.
